A photographers dream, lovely rural golf holes. Now I have played on and seen in books, television, and films some really lovely golf courses. Leopard Rock in the Vumba in Zimbabwe springs to mind. So does Sun and the Lost City in South Africa. Scotland, England, America and so many other beautiful places and courses.
Consequently it came as a big surprise when I went to watch my son play the other day. Coming up to the eight hole, he said to me,” Dad, this is my favourite hole, out of all the courses I have played on.”
This only a nine hole golf course but they turn it into an eighteen hole one, simply by having the tee in two different places, but, one is playing the same hole. Consequently ‘eight’, or, ‘seventeen’.
As a consequence of old age and a varied life, I cynically thought to myself, it must be dead easy. How wrong I was, how delighted I was, to turn a corner, and come across this gem.
